Dear Employer, On Wednesday, 29 March 2023, the Director General of Home Affairs issued a directive regarding additional extensions, and a grace period until 31 December 2023, for specifically long-term visa holders (work-, business-, study-, relative- and accompanying spouse visas).

This case turns on an answer to that question. On the morning of 9 June 2018, the third respondent advised one of the appellant’s managers that he had taken ill and that he would not be attending work on that day.

On the 16th of July 2021 the Minister of Employment and Labour, Thulas Nxesi, made it possible for the Unemployment Insurance Fund(UIF) to implement a third extension of the TERS benefits.
